Creativity Enhancement Bootcamp for Students in Preparation for National and International Olympiads

Medan, May 19, 2026 – The Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance of the Faculty of Vocational Education at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a Creativity Enhancement Bootcamp for Students in Preparation for National and International Olympiads. The event was held online via Zoom on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and was attended by the Head of the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance, lecturers, and students.

Through this activity, students were guided to understand strategies for participating in olympiads, develop innovative ideas, and improve their critical thinking and collaborative skills. In her remarks, the Head of the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance, Beby Kendida Hasibuan, stated that this bootcamp is part of the study program’s commitment to supporting student potential development so they can compete and achieve accomplishments in various competitions. She also expressed hope that students would use this activity as a platform to enhance their abilities, broaden their perspectives, and build a positive competitive mindset.

“Through this bootcamp, we hope students will not only possess strong academic abilities, but also creativity, self-confidence, and readiness to compete at both national and international levels. We hope this activity can become the starting point for new achievements by Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance students of the Faculty of Vocational Education of USU,” she said.

The material presented by lecturer Wina Nurfitriani, S.A.B., M.M., focused on the introduction to and preparation strategies for the 11th Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA) 2026. In her presentation, she explained the various competition categories that students could participate in, the stages of competition selection, the development of creative and innovative ideas, as well as the importance of mastering technical skills, critical thinking, and teamwork collaboration in producing competitive work at the national level. Throughout the activity, participants took part in discussion sessions, competition simulations, and intensive mentoring related to proposal development and innovative ideas.

Through the implementation of this bootcamp, the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance of the Faculty of Vocational Education of USU hopes to produce a generation of outstanding, creative, and innovative students who are capable of bringing achievements to the institution in various national and international olympiad events.
