Medan, August 18, 2026 – Another notable achievement was earned by students of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). A student team from the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance successfully won 2nd Place in the Marpesta QRIS 2026 – Business and Innovation Plan Competition organized by the Bank Indonesia Pematangsiantar Representative Office.
The team that brought pride to the Faculty of Vocational Education USU was named “Gacor Team,” consisting of Dianita Permatasari, Risdon Heri Ricardo Hutapea, and Valerine Grace Marcya Sianipar. In the competition, Gacor Team presented a paper entitled “DELIFLOAT PACK: Smart Floating Bag Innovation Based on Embedded AI and Connected AI for an Adaptive Flood Evacuation System in North Sumatra,” under the supervision of lecturer Lailan Syafrina Hasibuan, S.E., M.Si.
Gacor Team's participation in the Business and Innovation Plan Competition served as a platform for students to develop their skills in preparing business plans while offering innovative solutions to problems faced by society. Through this competition, students were not only required to generate ideas but also to conduct analyses, formulate strategies, develop business models, and present their ideas competitively.
Marpesta QRIS is an annual activity organized by Bank Indonesia Pematangsiantar Representative Office as part of National QRIS Week and to commemorate the anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The activity is part of Bank Indonesia's efforts to expand the digital payment ecosystem and increase public interest in using QRIS in various transaction activities.
The series of Marpesta QRIS activities also featured various activities involving the community, ranging from MSME bazaars, affordable staple food markets, sports activities, to public entertainment. These activities served as a means of introducing the benefits of digital payments while encouraging people to become increasingly accustomed to using QRIS in their daily economic activities.
The 2nd Place achievement earned by the Gacor Team demonstrates that students of the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU are capable of developing innovative ideas that combine business, technology, and community needs. This achievement also reflects the character of vocational education, which emphasizes practical skills, creativity, innovation, and students' ability to develop solutions relevant to the needs of the workforce and society.
