Medan, March 18, 2025 – The Faculty of Vocational Education of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held an event titled Development and Mentorship of Scientific Writing at USU Faculty of Vocational Education as a preparation for the 2025 Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (Olivia). This event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of composing scientific papers following the standards and procedures set by Olivia while also sharpening creativity and competitiveness at the national level.

The event occurred in the USU Faculty of Vocational Education Auditorium and featured two expert speakers in their respective fields, Drg. Kholidina Imanda Harahap, M.DSc., and Dr. Martha Rianna, S.Si., with Dr. Ir. Zikri Noer, S.Si., M.Si. as moderator. The activity was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education of USU, represented by Vice Dean I, Dr. Drs. Muhammad Husni Thamrin, S.Sos., M.Si. The academic community and students of the Faculty of Vocational Education attended it. The program was hosted by Afrida Fitriyani Sipahutar, S.Pd.I, M.A., as the Master of Ceremony (MC).
In his remarks, Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Vocational Education of USU emphasized the importance of this mentorship program as a strategic step in preparing students to participate in the 2025 Olivia competition. Through this event, students are expected to gain a solid understanding of proper scientific writing techniques, produce competitive and innovative papers, and show strong enthusiasm for joining the Indonesian Vocational Olympiad 2025—with full support from the faculty.

The materials presented by the speakers covered various essential aspects of scientific writing, from writing structure and research methodology to techniques for presenting data according to scientific standards. An interactive discussion followed, where students actively asked questions and explored deeper insights into the best strategies for writing excellent scientific papers.
