Cloud Computing Workshop with AWS Cloud Services
Medan, April 15, 2026 – The Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized a workshop titled Cloud Computing with AWS Cloud Services. The event took place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, and was attended by keynote speakers, the Vice Dean III, the Head and Secretary of the Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering, lecturers, and students.
The event was officially opened with remarks from the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Information, Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum., who expressed his appreciation for the successful organization of the workshop as a form of synergy between academia and industry. He emphasized the importance for students to continuously develop digital skills, particularly in cloud computing, in order to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving era of technological transformation.
Remarks were also delivered by the Head of the Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering, Dra. Normalina Napitupulu, M.Sc., who highlighted the importance of mastering cloud computing technologies as essential preparation for students entering the digital workforce. She expressed hope that the workshop would broaden participants’ insights into the latest technological developments and career opportunities in the field of information technology.
Following the opening session, the event continued with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and an Implementation Arrangement (IA) as a commitment to collaboration between the Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Education USU, and industry partners in supporting education, training, and the enhancement of students’ competencies in information technology.
The workshop then proceeded with the first session titled “Building a Career in the Cloud Native World,” delivered by Albert Suwandhi, Cloud Engineer and AWS Community Hero from AWS User Group Medan. In this session, participants gained insights into cloud industry trends, career opportunities, and the competencies required to pursue a career in cloud computing.
The next session, “On-Premise and Cloud Computing in IT Infrastructure,” was presented by Dolly Aswin Harahap, Engineering Manager at Extend Integrasi Indonesia. This session discussed the differences between conventional infrastructure systems and cloud technology, including their advantages, efficiency, and applications across various modern industries.
Through this workshop, the Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Education USU, hopes that students will be better prepared to face digital transformation and compete in the workforce with relevant, industry-aligned skills.
