Entering the Workforce Seminar with the theme "Digital Mindset & Positive Character: Provisions for Fresh Graduates Entering the Workforce"
Medan, April 22, 2025 – The Faculty of Vocational Education at Universitas Sumatera Utara successfully held a seminar themed “Entering the Workforce” on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the USU Student Hall. This event was attended by students from the Faculty of Vocational Education as well as members of the public who were eager to learn more about the workforce and how to prepare for it.
The event was officially opened by Mr. Dr. Drs. Muhammad Husni Thamrin, M.Si., Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Vocational Education at Universitas Sumatera Utara. His opening speech emphasized the importance of non-academic preparation relevant to current industry needs.
Mr. Erwin Bumi, SE., MM., Chairman of PW JAPNAS North Sumatra, also attended the seminar. It featured two expert speakers in their fields: Mr. Aris Budiyanto SE, MM, CBM, CHt, Assistant Vice President of Capability Development Circle Sumatra, Indosat Medan, and Ms. Juli Agustini, SE., Branch Manager of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Medan USU.
The event was moderated by Ms. Cut Muharawani, S.Sos., Executive Secretary of JAPNAS North Sumatra.
The speakers delivered material on workplace challenges, the importance of building personal branding, and readiness for the recruitment process. One notable quote shared was, “Jobs will not look for us; we must look for jobs. Build your public speaking and personal branding skills when seeking employment, and first understand the background of the division you want to choose.”
This event provided participants with real insight into the world of work and encouraged students to start preparing themselves now, not only academically but also in terms of communication skills and professionalism.
Through this seminar, the Faculty of Vocational Education at USU hopes that students will gain a clearer picture of future career challenges and be able to face them with thorough preparation.
