Friday, October 25, 2024, the Faculty of Vocational Education of the Universitas Sumatera Utara held an Expo Competitive Fund Vocational 2024 with the theme "Innovation in Vocational Education: Bridging the Gap Between Theory and Practice" and became one of the series of Dies Natalis of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. The event, which was held on campus, was attended by various important figures, including Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, S.E., M.E., as the Dean of the USU Faculty of Vocational Education, Mr. Ilham Saputra, S.E., President Director of PT Sultan Aren Indonesia, and Dr. Yasmin Chairunnisa Muchtar SP, MBA, who serves as Vice Dean II of the USU Faculty of Vocational Education. In addition, students from various high schools/vocational schools in Medan City also participated in this event, showing high enthusiasm for vocational education.
The event was opened with a warm welcome from Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia. In her opening speech, she expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the presence of the CEO of PT Sultan Aren Indonesia as the primary sponsor of the event, as well as the students who attended. She emphasized the importance of innovation and creativity among vocational faculty students, hoping they can continue innovating and contributing positively to society. The Dean also explained that the Faculty of Vocational Education is ready to serve students who come to campus to understand more about the various study programs offered and how this faculty can help them prepare for the competitive world of work.
Expo Competitive Fund Vocational 2024 has several strategic objectives expected to impact all participants positively. First, the event aims to enhance students' creativity, allowing them to explore their talents and interests in various fields. In addition, this activity also serves as a means of study program socialization, where high school/vocational school students can learn more about the study options available at the Faculty of Vocational Education and the benefits of vocational education in facing the challenges of the world of work.
One of the interesting aspects of this expo is the exhibition of innovative products displayed by vocational faculty students. This exhibition not only showcases the results of students' creativity but also encourages them to continue to innovate and explore entrepreneurial ideas. By exhibiting their works, students can get direct feedback from visitors, which can help them in further development. The exhibition also enhances students' practical skills, providing an opportunity for them to apply the knowledge they have learned in class to real products.
Equally important, this activity aims to establish closer cooperation between students and industry. Through direct interaction with various parties, students can build networks that open up opportunities for internships, collaboration, and even employment after graduation. Thus, Expo Competitive Fund Vocational 2024 is not just a ceremonial event, but also a concrete step in preparing students to enter the professional world more prepared and confident.
With the various objectives and activities held, it is hoped that students can build a strong network with academia and industry, and be inspired to continue innovating in the vocational field. The Faculty of Vocational Education at the Universitas Sumatera Utara is committed to becoming an educational institution that is relevant and adaptive to the changing needs of the world of work. This event is expected to be the first step for students to forge a brighter future full of opportunities.
