Medan, 20–22 November 2025 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, successfully organized the 2025 Vocational Expo, an annual event that brings together education, culture, innovation, and student creativity. All expo activities were centered at the Pancasila Hall, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and attended by students, lecturers, education staff, alumni, IDUKA partners, and high school/vocational school students from across North Sumatra.

The series of activities began on Thursday, 20 November 2025, with welcoming remarks delivered by the Vice Dean II, Dr. Yasmin Chairunisa Muchtar, SP., MBA. In her speech, she stated, “The Expo of the Faculty of Vocational Education serves as a platform for students to showcase creativity while strengthening collaboration between the faculty, students, and industry partners.”

Following the opening session, the event continued with a presentation from Pegadaian and two material sessions: Dr. Iwan Ritnasari, S.Hut., M.Si. presented “Optimizing the Utilization of Non-Timber Forest Products,” and Amelia Zuliyanti Siregar, M.Sc., Ph.D. delivered material on “Opportunities and Prospects of Agripreneurship in the Future.”

From the very first day, the 2025 Vocational Expo was enlivened by 189 entries of scientific poster competitions and 36 innovative products from 17 study programs, which remained a central attraction throughout the three-day event.

The expo continued on Friday, 21 November 2025, beginning with the arrival and remarks from the University Secretary, Prof. Dr. dr. Muhammad Fidel Ganis Siregar, M.Ked(OG), Sp.O.G., Subsp.F.E.R., who stated, “The presence of students in today’s Open House is an important step in introducing vocational education as a relevant and strategic future pathway.”

On this day, the Faculty of Vocational Education held an Open House attended by high school/vocational school students across North Sumatra and announced the winners of the Reels content competition participated in by the students. The series continued with a presentation by Torang Maruli Tua Sitorus titled “Bridging Tradition to Innovation: Building a Creative Industry Based on Traditional Fabrics.”

Towards the afternoon, the expo atmosphere grew even livelier with a Fashion Show featuring students from various study programs, showcasing outfits themed “Nusantara Fabric Creations.”

The peak of the event took place on Saturday, 22 November 2025, starting with a morning fun walk involving students, alumni, and IDUKA partners. Participants then returned to Pancasila Hall for the ceremonial program, beginning with a welcoming dance and the upah-upah procession. Remarks for the third day were delivered by the Vice Rector II, Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP., who stated, “The Vocational Expo reflects the positive energy and creativity of students, which must continue to be nurtured and developed through collaboration with the professional world.”

This was followed by remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, SE., ME., who emphasized the faculty’s achievements, saying, “Although the Faculty of Vocational Education is only three years old, the accomplishments of our students and lecturers are already remarkable and demonstrate great potential for continued growth.”

The Committee Chair, Jane Melita Keliat, S.Si., M.Si., also expressed her appreciation, stating, “This expo is the result of collective effort from all faculty members committed to providing an inspiring space for students to continue innovating and creating.”

The expo atmosphere grew more festive with the distribution of lucky draw prizes, followed by Vocational Got Talent featuring performances from lecturers and education staff, as well as an Acoustic Band competition participated in by students from various study programs. The event officially concluded with the announcement of winners across all competition categories.

The 2025 Vocational Expo was held successfully, filled with enthusiasm, and served as an important platform for nurturing creativity, innovation, and collaborative networks between the faculty, students, and industry partners.
