The Faculty of Vocational Education of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a Socialization of Pioneer and Independent Research and Community Service (PkM) as well as a Cooperation Partner Audience with PT Bukuloka Literasi Bangsa

Medan, 5 February 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) organized a Socialization of Pioneer and Independent Research and Community Service (PkM) as well as a Cooperation Partner Audience with PT Bukuloka Literasi Bangsa, on Monday, 5 February 2026, held in Room 307, Building B, Faculty of Vocational Education.

The activity was attended by faculty leaders, homebase lecturers who had previously received Pioneer Research and PkM funding, homebase lecturers who had never conducted Research and PkM, as well as representatives from PT Bukuloka Literasi Bangsa. This event aimed to strengthen the capacity of the academic community in conducting more innovative, relevant, and impactful research and PkM for society, while also opening opportunities for collaboration with industry partners in the field of literacy and educational media development.


In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education of USU, Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, SE., ME, stated that collaboration with industry is a strategic step to ensure that research and PkM outputs can be applied concretely in society. “We hope that this cooperation will not only strengthen the research and community service ecosystem at the Faculty of Vocational Education, but also present real solutions for the needs of the world of work and the wider community,” he said.

Furthermore, the representative of PT Bukuloka Literasi Bangsa, Rani Wulandari, welcomed this cooperation opportunity. She explained that Bukuloka is committed to supporting literacy activities, the provision of educational content, and the development of technology-based programs that are aligned with the needs of vocational education.

The socialization activity was then filled with technical presentations regarding the Pioneer Research scheme, Independent Research, as well as PkM that can be participated in by lecturers of the Faculty of Vocational Education. Participants received explanations regarding the proposal submission mechanism, assessment criteria, and strategies for preparing quality research outputs.

 

With the implementation of this activity, the Faculty of Vocational Education of USU hopes that more lecturers will actively participate in research and PkM, and that the faculty’s partnership network with industry and external institutions will become stronger. Collaboration with PT Bukuloka Literasi Bangsa is expected to be an initial step toward new programs that are innovative and beneficial for the academic community as well as society.
