Medan, 26 January 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a Preparatory Meeting for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year as part of its efforts to ensure optimal readiness in the implementation of vocational education. The meeting took place in Classroom 305, Building B, Faculty of Vocational Education USU, and was attended by the faculty leadership, heads and secretaries of study programs, lecturers, and educational staff within the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. The meeting discussed various strategic aspects, including academics, student affairs, human resources and finance, as well as research, community service, cooperation, and public relations.
The meeting was led directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, SE., ME. In her opening remarks, Prof. Isfenti emphasized that the meeting served as a strategic step to ensure that all learning processes in the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year would run smoothly, in a well-planned manner, and in accordance with established academic standards.
Meanwhile, the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Dr. Yasmin Chairunisa Muchtar, SP., MBA., highlighted the importance of readiness in administrative aspects, facilities and infrastructure, as well as financial support to ensure the smooth implementation of lectures.
In the academic domain, the Faculty of Vocational Education USU emphasized that course allocation should prioritize internal lecturers, with the fulfillment of lecturers’ workload in accordance with national regulations through BKD reporting on the SISTER application. The preparation of lecture schedules is also required to ensure that the credit load (SKS) of internal lecturers is fulfilled, with the role of practitioner lecturers limited to a maximum of four meetings and directed as guest lecturers. In addition, microcredential programs are encouraged as supplementary learning opportunities for students.
In the area of student affairs, the meeting stressed the active role of academic advisors prior to the approval of Study Plan Cards (KRS), the implementation of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) in accordance with the 2025 guidelines, and the regular updating of alumni tracer studies. Various student activities for 2026 were also planned to support student achievement and development.
In terms of human resources and finance, updates to SISTER services and the implementation of the Regulation of the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Number 52 of 2025 concerning the profession, career, and income of lecturers were conveyed as part of efforts to enhance the professionalism of teaching staff.
Meanwhile, in the fields of research and community service, each lecturer is targeted to have at least one research title and one community service activity, with an increase in scientific publications of more than 30 percent in 2026, as well as the strengthening of an SDGs-based master plan.
The meeting also discussed cooperation and public relations strategies for 2026, focusing on the collection and evaluation of partners, the strengthening of internship and MBKM programs, and the optimization of study program websites as platforms for information dissemination and publication.
Through this preparatory meeting, the Faculty of Vocational Education USU reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving the quality of learning, institutional governance, and the achievement of the tridharma of higher education, in support of the delivery of vocational education that is excellent and relevant to the needs of the world of work.
