Medan, July 30, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a Socialization Session on Study Leave Regulations and Financial Assistance for Lecturers on Thursday (July 30, 2026), in Room 203 of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. The activity was attended by the Vice Dean and home-base lecturers of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. The session aimed to provide an understanding of the latest regulations concerning study leave, educational financial assistance, and financial assistance for competency/professional certification for lecturers.
The activity was opened and presented by the Vice Dean for Administration, Finance, Human Resources, and Academic Infrastructure of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Dr. Yasmin Chairunisa Muchtar, S.P., M.B.A. In her remarks, she emphasized that improving lecturers’ academic qualifications and competencies is a strategic step toward enhancing the quality of education at the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. Therefore, lecturers are encouraged to take advantage of the various policies and facilities provided by the university to pursue further education and enhance their professional competencies.
During the socialization session, Dr. Yasmin discussed three main topics: Study Leave Regulations, Financial Assistance Regulations for Study Leave, and Financial Assistance Regulations for Competency/Professional Certification. The materials covered the legal basis, objectives and scope of study leave, eligibility requirements, application procedures, and policy changes stipulated in Rector’s Regulation of Universitas Sumatera Utara No. 42 of 2025, which amends Rector’s Regulation No. 30 of 2023.
Participants also received information regarding the types of financial assistance available during study leave, including institutional development assistance, educational expenses, and thesis or dissertation writing assistance. The session also discussed the financial assistance program for competency/professional certification for permanent lecturers as part of the university’s support for improving the professionalism and competitiveness of its human resources.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Vocational Education USU hopes that all home-base lecturers will gain a more comprehensive understanding of the latest regulations and be able to make optimal use of study leave and financial assistance programs. Improved academic qualifications and lecturer competencies are expected to strengthen the quality of education, research, and community service, while contributing to the development of highly qualified human resources at Universitas Sumatera Utara.
