Medan, July 31, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), once again recorded an achievement through the improvement of lecturers' competencies in the fields of sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). The achievement was earned by Mr. Sambas Ade Kesuma, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., who successfully obtained the Certificate of Intermediate Level Competency in Sustainability and ESG from the Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz School of Accountancy, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Malaysia.
The attainment of this competency certificate serves as a form of recognition of professional capacity development in understanding and applying the principles of Sustainability and ESG, which are increasingly important in supporting sustainable-oriented governance in organizations, education, and the business sector.
Competence in Sustainability and ESG is also an important part of encouraging the creation of governance that is not only oriented toward performance achievement but also considers environmental and social aspects as well as good and responsible governance.
The achievement earned by Sambas Ade Kesuma is expected to contribute positively to strengthening knowledge and sustainability practices within the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. In addition, this competence is expected to support the development of learning that is increasingly relevant to the needs of the workforce and global challenges related to sustainable development.
This achievement also reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU to encouraging lecturers to continuously improve their competencies, expand international academic networks, and develop expertise that is aligned with developments in science and the needs of society.
