The Diploma Program in Chemistry, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Santika Dyandra Hotel Medan. This activity was attended by Hamdan Pangarapan Purba, S.Si from PT Soci Mas Medan and Akhmat Khairul, S.T. from PT Able Commodities Indonesia (Mewah Group) as resource persons, as well as lecturers of The Diploma Program in Chemistry, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara and also representatives from the industry.

In his remarks, Vice Dean 1 of the USU Faculty of Vocational Education, Dr. Drs. Muhammad Husni Thamrin, M.Si, emphasized the importance of collaboration between universities and industry to improve the quality and relevance of the curriculum. “This FGD activity is expected to provide valuable input for curriculum development under industry needs,” said Husni.

The industry resource persons, Hamdan Pangarapan Purba, S.Si, and Akhmat Khairul, S.T., conveyed their views and experiences related to the competencies needed in the world of work. They provided suggestions and recommendations for curriculum improvement so that graduates of The Diploma Program in Chemistry, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, can compete in the industry.

The FGD activity held at Santika Dyandra Hotel Medan is part of the USU Faculty of Vocational Education's efforts to improve graduates' quality and competitiveness through collaboration with industry. It is hoped that the Diploma Program in Chemistry study program can produce graduates ready to face challenges in the world of work.
