Implementation of Site Assessment for the Accreditation of the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara
Medan, April 6–7, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), conducted the Site Assessment (Asesmen Lapangan/AL) for the accreditation of the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Applied Chemistry by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). The assessment took place on April 6–7, 2026, at Building B of the Faculty of Vocational Education. This activity represents a crucial component of quality assurance and continuous improvement in education within the faculty.
Day One: Opening Session and Quality Document Review
The first day, Monday, April 6, 2026, was officially opened by the Vice Rector I of Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt. In her remarks, she emphasized that accreditation is a vital process in improving the quality of higher education and serves as an evaluation tool to ensure that each study program continues to develop in accordance with established standards. She also expressed hope that the assessment would proceed smoothly and yield optimal results for the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Applied Chemistry, while encouraging all academic members to actively participate and demonstrate their best performance throughout the process.
The opening session was attended by the leadership of the study program management unit, the Head and Secretary of the Study Program, the Accreditation Team, the Secretary of the USU Quality Assurance Agency, laboratory heads, as well as lecturers and administrative staff.
Following the opening remarks, the assessors officially commenced the assessment by introducing themselves and outlining the assessment stages, verification methods, and key evaluation focus areas. They also emphasized the importance of transparency and collaboration from all parties to ensure an objective and effective assessment process.
The agenda continued with a series of discussions and confirmations between the assessors and unit leaders, study program managers, and the quality assurance team. Topics included governance policies, academic management systems, learning outcomes, and future development plans. In addition, the assessors verified data from the Study Program Performance Report (LKPS) along with supporting documents.
As part of the assessment process, the assessors conducted direct interviews with lecturers and students, as well as virtual interviews with industry partners. These sessions aimed to gather comprehensive insights into the implementation of the tridharma of higher education, the quality of academic services, stakeholder engagement, and overall satisfaction levels.
Day Two: Facilities Review and Accreditation Feedback
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the assessors conducted an on-site review of facilities and infrastructure, including laboratories, library services, student service centers, and other supporting facilities. The activity concluded with the delivery of feedback, the signing of the site assessment report, and the presentation of initial accreditation recommendations to the study program management.
Through this assessment, it is expected that the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Applied Chemistry, Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, will continue to enhance the quality of education and produce competent graduates who are well-prepared to compete in the workforce.
