The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has carried out a series of On-Site Assessments (OSA) as part of the accreditation process for the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Statistics and the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Instrumentation Engineering Technology.

Medan, 12–13 February 2026 — The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has conducted a series of On-Site Assessments (OSA) as part of the accreditation process for the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Statistics and the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Instrumentation Engineering Technology.

 

The On-Site Assessment aimed to ensure the alignment between the self-evaluation report, accreditation forms, and the actual implementation of educational activities in the field. The study programs were evaluated across various aspects, including governance, curriculum, educational facilities, service quality, as well as the performance of lecturers and students.
 

Day One: Opening and Review of Quality Documents


The activities on Thursday, 12 February 2026, were officially opened by the Vice Rector II of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP. In his remarks, he stated that the on-site assessment is an important moment to ensure the quality of vocational education that is excellent and competitive, while also reaffirming USU’s commitment to continuously improving academic quality across all study program units. The opening ceremony was also attended by UPPS leaders, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, the Accreditation Team, as well as related lecturers and educational staff.

 

Following the remarks from university leadership, the event continued with the official opening by the assessors. In this session, the assessors introduced themselves and explained the stages of the assessment, verification methods, and evaluation focus to be carried out. The assessors also emphasized the importance of transparency and cooperation from all parties to ensure that the assessment process runs smoothly and objectively.

Next, the assessors held a session with UPPS leaders to confirm data and information related to study program governance, performance achievements, and development plans for both study programs. This was followed by verification and confirmation of LKPS data, during which the assessors examined the consistency of quantitative data with actual conditions in the field. In the following session, the assessors met with the Internal Quality Assurance implementers to evaluate the effectiveness of the quality assurance system, including the review of standards documents, manuals, quality instruments, and periodic reports.

 

After a break, the assessment continued with interviews with lecturers, followed by educational staff, to gather information on the implementation of learning activities, academic services, and administrative support. The first day concluded with interviews with students, providing a comprehensive overview of their learning experiences, facilities, and levels of satisfaction with study program services.

 

Day Two: Facilities Review and Accreditation Recommendations


On Friday, 13 February 2026, the assessors conducted a review of facilities and infrastructure, including laboratories, classrooms, learning support facilities, the library, and other relevant supporting documents. This was followed by a Wrap-Up Meeting attended by faculty leaders, study program leaders, the accreditation team, and related units. On this occasion, the assessors conveyed recommendations, general notes, and appreciation for the implementation of the assessment and the readiness of the study programs.

The series of On-Site Assessments was officially closed through a closing session led by the assessors and attended by all related parties. In the closing, the assessors expressed their appreciation for the good cooperation throughout the assessment process and emphasized the importance of follow-up actions on the recommendations provided. Faculty leadership also conveyed their appreciation to all teams involved and expressed the hope that the assessment results would lead to quality improvement in both study programs.
