Medan, October 2, 2025 – The Diploma Program in Secretarial Studies, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully held a Public Lecture and Workshop at the Mikie Wijaya Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) USU, on Thursday (2/10). This event served as both a learning platform and a means to strengthen students’ competencies in facing the challenges of the modern administrative and secretarial profession.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum., who emphasized the importance of vocational students continuously developing skills relevant to the needs of the industrial and corporate sectors. He stated that this activity aligns with the Faculty’s vision of producing professional and job-ready graduates.
Following this, remarks were also delivered by Ms. Kasih Dwi Yanti, Senior Vice President, who expressed her appreciation for the initiative of the Diploma Program in Secretarial Studies in organizing the public lecture and workshop. In her address, she emphasized that archive management and information governance are crucial skills in the workplace, requiring students to adapt to technological developments while maintaining professionalism in administrative practices.
The main session featured Ms. Fitri Handayani Pasaribu as the keynote speaker, who presented material on Archive Management and Information Governance. In her presentation, she explained the importance of systematic archive management and strategies for implementing effective information governance in the digital era. According to her, these competencies are key to improving work efficiency, supporting decision-making, and ensuring organizational sustainability.
The public lecture and workshop session was moderated by Juli Novita Sari, S.Si., M.Sc., who facilitated an engaging and interactive discussion. The students demonstrated high enthusiasm, shown through numerous questions and real-world case discussions related to document and information management in office environments.
As a form of appreciation, the event concluded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to the speaker by Ms. Fivi Rahmatus Sofiyah, SE., M.Si., Head of the Diploma Program in Secretarial Studies, Faculty of Vocational Education USU. The presentation symbolized gratitude for the speaker’s valuable contribution in sharing her knowledge and experience, while also strengthening the relationship between academia and professional practitioners.
Through this event, the Diploma Program in Secretarial Studies, Faculty of Vocational Education USU, hopes that students can broaden their knowledge, enhance their practical skills, and prepare themselves to become professional, adaptive, and competitive individuals in the era of digital transformation.
