Learning finance while expanding your industry connections? Yes, please! Public lectures and the signing of an IA with PT AIA Financial are major steps taken by the USU Vocational Faculty to improve students' skills and career opportunities. Are you ready to become an increasingly competent vocational generation?

Medan, November 11, 2025 — The Public Sector Accounting D4 Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Sumatera Utara, successfully held a public lecture on the theme “Life Insurance: The Main Pillar of Financial Planning and Future Career Prospects.” The event, held at the Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, was attended by the Vice Dean III of the Vocational Faculty of USU, lecturers, students, and industry partners as part of strengthening campus-industry connections.

In his opening remarks, Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum, as Vice Dean III of the Vocational Faculty, delivered an inspiring message about the strategic value of vocational education. “We are rare beings, so there should be no room for self-doubt. We are vocational, which means the best education for the future lies within us. Therefore, do not waste this golden opportunity as vocational graduates,” he said, providing strong motivational boost to all participants.

The public lecture featured a keynote speaker from the financial planning industry, Jacky Veidy Heyke Momongan, SE., CIAE, RFP®, Meta-NLP Pract., ABDP Lead Elite 1 PT AIA Financial, who comprehensively explained the role of life insurance as a protection instrument and foundation for financial planning for the younger generation. "Insurance is not just protection, but a financial strategy. The sooner we understand this, the sooner we can take control of our financial future," said Jacky Heyke.

This event was made even more meaningful with the signing of an Implementation Arrangement (IA) between the USU Vocational Faculty's D4 Public Sector Accounting Study Program and PT AIA Financial. This collaboration includes internship programs, career training, guest lectures, and industry-based competency strengthening.

The signing of the Implementation Arrangement (IA) was carried out by Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, SE., ME., as Dean of the Vocational Faculty of the University of North Sumatra, and Jacky Veidy Heyke Momongan as representative of PT AIA Financial. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Sambas Ade Kesuma, SE, M.Si, Ph.D, Ak, CA, Head of the D4 Public Sector Accounting Study Program at the USU Vocational Faculty, along with a lecturers and the study program management team.

The Head of the D4 Public Sector Accounting Study Program emphasized the importance of this collaboration for the curriculum and strengthening the work readiness of vocational students. “We want vocational students to have concrete competitiveness. Through this collaboration, they can gain direct exposure from the industry so they are ready to take the next step, not just ready to graduate,” said Sambas Ade Kesuma.

The Q&A session was interactive. Students actively explored career opportunities in the insurance sector, understanding financial protection, and the competencies needed to become modern financial planners. Many participants felt that this session opened up new insights into the importance of financial literacy from an early age.

The Public Sector Accounting D4 Study Program at the USU Vocational Faculty remains committed to delivering academic activities that are practical, relevant, and connected to industry needs as part of its mission to improve graduate quality.
