Usu goes one step further by sharing experiences and establishing collaboration with Universiti Utara Malaysia! Each session is full of insights, opening new opportunities for lecturers and students to develop globally.

Sintok, Kedah (November 1, 2025) – A team of lecturers and students from the Universitas Sumatera Utara conducted an academic visit and participated in the Grand Final of the International Business Datathon 2025 at the Tunku Intan Shafinaz School of Accountancy (TISSA), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

 

This event was a cross-border academic collaboration that brought together students and lecturers from various leading universities in Asia. During the four-day event, the USU delegation was involved in a few important agendas, such as:

  • A meeting between lecturers and the TISSA UUM dean, discussing four main cooperation plans of PhD programs, professional certification, research collaboration, and programmer summer camps.

  • Lecture and sharing session entitled “The Importance of Strategic IS Planning: Perspectives and Examples from Indonesia” presented by Sambas Ade Kesuma, SE, M.Si, Ph.D, Ak., CA, Head of the Public Sector Accounting Study Program, USU Vocational Faculty.

  • Student exchange program, where USU students actively interacted with TISSA UUM students in an open and friendly academic atmosphere.

In addition, the USU team also visited the UUM Library, known as one of the best libraries in Malaysia, as well as the UUM Museum, which displays the history and journey of the university.

The event concluded with the International Business Datathon Grand Final, where the USU team gave an impressive performance and became one of the best teams among representatives from universities around the world.

 

"We are very proud to represent USU and stand shoulder to shoulder with the best teams from the world's leading universities. More than just a competition, this is an academic experience that broadens our horizons and strengthens USU's international network," said Dr. Sambas Ade Kesuma, Head of the Public Sector Accounting Study Program, USU Vocational Faculty, and advisor to the delegation.


This program is a concrete step for the Public Sector Accounting Study Program, USU Vocational Faculty, towards international academic networking and strengthening the spirit of cross-campus collaboration in Asia.
