Medan, October 13, 2025 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, through the Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Public Sector Accounting, successfully held the VOC4SI Level Up Vol.2 Webinar with the theme “From Campus to Career: Why ESG Matters to You!”. This event presented an international speaker, Dr. Choat Inthawongse, a lecturer at Muban Chom Bueng Rajabhat University, Thailand, and an advisor at the Institute of Agro-Based Industries, Federation of Thai Industries, Bangkok.
In his presentation, “The Power of ESG: Investing in a Better Future for Indonesia”, Dr. Choat encouraged participants to understand that ESG is not merely a trend, but an essential framework that shapes leadership careers and ethical values in the modern workplace. ESG, which encompasses Environmental, Social, and Governance aspects, has become a new benchmark for companies to assess sustainability and social impact.
Through various real-life examples, Dr. Choat demonstrated how green innovations in Indonesia, such as cassava-based packaging, seaweed products, and renewable energy, serve as evidence that sustainability can go hand in hand with profitability. He emphasized that companies with strong ESG performance trend to be more resilient, ethical, and focused on long-term growth.
“The future is in your hands. Let’s make it a sustainable, fair, and prosperous one, together,” said Dr. Choat to the participants. Through this inspiring session, students were encouraged to take small steps starting from campus environment, such as advocating for sustainability movements, supporting ethical local businesses, and continuously improving their literacy on ESG-related issues.
This event emphasized that future success is determined not only by skills and knowledge, but also by values, ethics, and awareness of the impact on society and the environment. By understanding and applying ESG principles, students are expected to become agents of change towards a sustainable and equitable future for Indonesia.

Through the VOC4SI Level Up Vol.2 Webinar, the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, reaffirms its commitment to providing inspiring and industry-relevant learning experiences, while fostering young generations’ awareness to contribute to sustainable development.
