This event symbolizes the synergy between USU and the Ministry of Trade in supporting academic development and research in trade.
The event began at 10:30 AM WIB with participant registration, followed by the welcoming of the Minister of Trade by the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (Ditjen PKTN). The official ceremony was opened by the Master of Ceremony (MC) and commenced with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya. In her speech, USU Vice Rector III, Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan, S.Si., M.Si., Apt., emphasized the importance of this collaboration in supporting consumer protection programs and fostering synergy between the academic world and industry practitioners.
“This cooperation is a strategic step to enhance academic capacity and research in the field of trade while strengthening USU’s position as an active higher education institution in creating innovations and solutions for society,” stated USU Vice Rector III.
The agenda continued with signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Minister of Trade and USU Vice Rector III. On this occasion, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was also signed between the Directorate General of PKTN and several Deans of USU Faculties, including the Dean of the Vocational Faculty, Isfenti Sadalia, S.E., M.A. This cooperation includes enhancing educational programs, consumer protection efforts, and joint research initiatives.
The event's highlight was a Public Lecture by the Minister of Trade, Dr. Budi Santoso, M.Si. In his lecture, the Minister elaborated on various challenges and opportunities in trade within the digital era and government strategies for fostering a conducive trade environment. He also emphasized the crucial role of universities in producing highly skilled human resources prepared to face global challenges.
“The partnership between universities and the government is essential in preparing the younger generation with the competence, creativity, and innovation needed in the trade sector. As future leaders of the nation, students must have a deep understanding of global trade developments,” stated Minister Budi Santoso.
The event concluded with a doorstop session featuring the Minister of Trade and USU leadership, who provided statements to the media regarding the agreed cooperation. The events proceeded smoothly and received high enthusiasm from participants, including students, lecturers, and invited guests. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that USU and the Ministry of Trade can work together to create innovative solutions to address various trade challenges while promoting the advancement of education and research in Indonesia.
