Prof. Dr. Open Darnius Sembiring, M.Sc., Head of the Study Programs in Statistics, emphasized the importance of technopreneurship for vocational students. “Statistics graduates are not only expected to master data processing but also to have entrepreneurial insight that enables them to create new technology-based opportunities,” he stated.
Medan, 10 November 2025 – The Study Programs in Statistics, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a guest lecture titled “Technopreneurship for Statistics” at the Suhadji Hadibroto Auditorium, Faculty of Economics and Business, USU. The event, attended by the academic community of the Faculty of Vocational Education, featured Rangga Pratama, Chief of Analytics at StarCore, as the keynote speaker.
The event began at 08.30 WIB with participant registration, followed by an opening session led by Arya Dwi Ardhana Wibowo and Lanti Almira, and a prayer delivered by Ahmad Al Hafiz. The atmosphere became solemn as all participants sang the Indonesian national anthem, “Indonesia Raya.”
In his remarks, Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, expressed his appreciation for the event as an effort to strengthen students’ competencies in technology and entrepreneurship. He encouraged Statistics students to transform their analytical skills into innovative, business-oriented ideas relevant to today’s digital era.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Open Darnius Sembiring, M.Sc., Head of the Study Programs in Statistics, emphasized the importance of technopreneurship for vocational students. “Statistics graduates are not only expected to master data processing but also to have entrepreneurial insight that enables them to create new technology-based opportunities,” he stated.
The session continued with a presentation by Rangga Pratama, who shared his experiences and strategies in building a data-driven startup. He highlighted that statistical analysis skills can serve as a key foundation for developing products or services that meet market demands.
The participants showed great enthusiasm during the interactive discussion and Q&A session. The event concluded with a token of appreciation presented to the speaker and a group photo session with all participants and the organizing committee. This guest lecture served as an important platform for students of the Study Programs in Statistics, Faculty of Vocational Education USU, to broaden their perspectives, foster innovation, and prepare themselves to become young technopreneurs ready to compete in the digital transformation era.
