Medan, 15 June 2026 – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), together with the Faculty of Vocational Education (FVE) USU, received an academic visit from lecturers of the D4 Tax Accounting Study Program, Vocational School, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), to discuss the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and the development of journal platforms. The event was held at the FEB USU Meeting Room and was officially opened by the Dean of FEB USU. The activity was attended by the leadership of FEB USU, the leadership of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, lecturers, and administrative staff from both institutions.

The meeting took place in a discussion format and involved the exchange of best practices aimed at strengthening academic governance and improving the quality of higher education. The discussion covered curriculum development and learning evaluation. Currently, UNDIP applies a 60:40 composition between practical and theoretical components based on total credits, while the Diploma Program in Tax Administration has implemented a prototype-based final project model since 2025, with a 50 percent weighting on the product output and the remainder based on presentation and other assessment components.

Participants also discussed the need for further review of specific guidelines for final project implementation to ensure alignment with rector regulations. In addition, there are plans to strengthen graduate competencies through a policy encouraging students of the Diploma Program in Tax Administration to obtain Brevet certification as an added professional qualification.

In the areas of research and community service, the meeting also highlighted the importance of developing a more structured study program roadmap to support the sustainable achievement of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

Other discussions included the involvement of practitioners in the learning process, implemented proportionally according to needs to bridge lecturer competency gaps. However, the involvement of practitioners in introductory courses was also noted as an aspect that may be considered in the accreditation process.

Through this activity, it is expected that stronger synergy and collaboration will be established between UNDIP, FEB USU, and the Faculty of Vocational Education USU in strengthening outcome-based education, developing scientific publications, and optimizing the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
