Medan, 19 May 2026 – The Diploma Program in Tax Administration at the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized an International Guest Lecture titled "Global Careers in Tax Accounting and LPDP Scholarship Opportunities" at the H. Anif Building on Tuesday (19 May). The event featured Syafrina Ginting Sugihen, S.E., MPAcc., an Assurance Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Australia in the CIPS line of service, who is also a USU alumna and an LPDP scholarship recipient.

The lecture was attended by students from the Class of 2024 of the Diploma Program in Tax Administration. It aimed to broaden students' academic perspectives on the relevance of Cost Accounting in international accounting practice while motivating them to pursue postgraduate studies through scholarship opportunities.

During her presentation, the speaker explained how Cost Accounting concepts are applied in the professional environment of a global accounting firm. The session covered the use of cost analysis in decision-making, the implementation of Activity-Based Costing (ABC), and the role of accountants in assurance and audit processes within multinational companies.

In addition to discussing academic and professional topics, Syafrina Ginting Sugihen shared her personal journey of building a career at PwC Australia and securing an LPDP scholarship to pursue a Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance at the University of Sydney. She also provided practical guidance on preparing for the LPDP selection process, including essay writing, interview and group discussion preparation, and strengthening foreign language proficiency.

Through this International Guest Lecture, students gained valuable insights into global career opportunities in accounting and taxation while recognizing the importance of developing strong academic and professional competencies from an early stage. The event also served to strengthen connections between current students and USU alumni who have established international careers, with the hope of inspiring graduates who are competitive on the global stage.
