Medan, September 17, 2026 – The Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), conducted a visit to PT Dakara Prima Indonesia, which was attended by the Head of the Study Program, lecturers, and students of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation.
This visit was one of the efforts to strengthen relationships and collaboration between the education and industrial sectors while providing students with an opportunity to become more familiar with the work environment and the application of Metrology and Instrumentation knowledge in the industrial sector.
During the activity, the group had the opportunity to learn about and directly observe the facilities and laboratories at PT Dakara Prima Indonesia. The laboratory introduction provided students with insights into equipment, work processes, and the application of metrology and instrumentation competencies in supporting activities in the industrial sector.
The activity was also supported by Thoriq Aulia, an alumnus of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation from the 2023 cohort, who currently works at PT Dakara Prima Indonesia. The presence of an alumnus served as an important part of building a relationship between the alma mater and the world of work while also serving as a bridge for students to gain a real-world perspective on the application of competencies acquired during their studies.
Through this visit, students are expected to gain a better understanding of the connection between higher education learning and the needs of the industrial sector and be motivated to continue developing their competencies and professionalism as prospective experts in metrology and instrumentation.
The Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation continues to strengthen synergy with the industrial sector and build alumni networks as part of its efforts to improve the quality and relevance of vocational education.
