The D3 Finance Study Program at the USU Faculty of Vocational Studies has carried out Banking and Finance Workshop activities and Financial Professional Ethics with the theme “Regional Financial Innovation to Encourage Local Economic Growth” and “Fraud Prevention in Financial Transactions” on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the USU Faculty of Vocational Studies Hall, this activity was attended by 6th-semester students (stambuk 2021) and 2nd semester (stambuk 2023). Mr. Erwin Suheri Damanik is the Head of BAPPEDA of Tebing Tinggi City as Speaker 1, and Mrs. July Fathiya is the Branch Manager of PT. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Medan USU as Speaker 2.

In this workshop activity, Mr. Erwin Suheri Damanik explained about regional financial innovations carried out in encouraging economic growth in the city of Tebing Tinggi including having a team to accelerate access to regional finance, having a KKP (Government Credit Card) which each SKPD is given a maximum ceiling of Rp.300,000,000 per quarter in collaboration with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). People's Business Credit (KUR) is given to Tebing Tinggi City Government MSMEs in collaboration with banks throughout Tebing Tinggi, which is anti-rent. The Tebing Tinggi City Government also provides scholarships to students who get an Achievement Index (IP) ≥ 3 for 2 (two) consecutive semesters.

While Ms. July Fathiya explained about what is the background of fraud in the company, which parties are involved in fraud, and what must be done to prevent fraud in financial transactions. Ms. July also explained some fraud cases that usually occur in a company. With this workshop activity, it is hoped that students will be able to understand that financial innovation has an important role in driving economic growth and can avoid fraud.
