Medan, October 16, 2025 — The Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized a Workshop on Barang Dalam Keadaan Terbungkus (BDKT) or Prepackaged Goods on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Prof. Suhadji Hadibroto Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business, USU. The activity aimed to broaden students’ knowledge of supervision and testing processes related to prepackaged goods, which constitute an essential aspect of the field of metrology.

The event began energetically with MC Dona Tiara Lubis, S.T., M.T., followed by the singing of Indonesia Raya and a prayer led by Muhammad Afif Ghifari. The first welcoming remark was delivered by Drs. Gustanto, M.Hum., Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Vocational Education, who emphasized the importance of understanding BDKT among metrology students. “This activity not only increases knowledge but also trains students to be prepared for challenges in industry and public service,” he stated.

Next, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation, expressed appreciation to the organizing committee and participants for their enthusiasm. He hoped the workshop would strengthen students’ competence in product supervision and testing.

The first session was delivered online via Zoom by Kurniati Anisa, S.T., M.Kom., with the topic “Supervision and Introduction to Prepackaged Goods (BDKT).” In her presentation, she explained the legal basis, classification, and procedures for the supervision of prepackaged goods circulating in the market.

The second material session was delivered in person by Alno Kurniawan, S.T., M.T., with the theme “Procedures for Testing Prepackaged Goods (BDKT).” He outlined the technical stages of BDKT testing and the measuring instruments used to verify the conformity between the actual product content and the labeling information on the packaging. Both sessions were moderated by Lukman Hakim, S.Si., M.Si. The workshop ran interactively through discussions, Q&A, and hands-on practice, allowing students to directly engage in testing BDKT using scales and measurement instruments provided. The participants showed high enthusiasm in performing the testing procedures.

The event concluded with a summary from the moderator, emphasizing the importance of precision, accuracy, and understanding of regulations in the process of supervising and testing prepackaged goods. Through this workshop, students are expected to become more prepared to serve as competent and integrity-driven professionals in the field of metrology.
