Announcement of Successful Research Proposals under the Faculty of Vocational Education USU Early Career Lecturer Research Scheme for Fiscal Year 2026

The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) is pleased to announce the successful proposals under the Early Career Lecturer Research Scheme for Fiscal Year 2026. The awardees were determined based on the Dean’s Decree of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU No. 1326/UN5/D/FVokasi/PT.01.02/2026, issued on June 25, 2026.

Following the selection and proposal evaluation process conducted by the reviewers of the 2026 Faculty of Vocational Education Applied Pioneer Research Program, a total of 13 research proposals have been selected for funding under the Early Career Lecturer Research Scheme for 2026. The decree is effective from the date of issuance until December 31, 2026.

The 13 principal investigators selected for funding are:

  • Reza Taqyuddin (Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering): Development of an XAI-Integrated Indoor Air Quality Monitoring System to Optimize Smart Building Comfort Zones
  • Fathurrahman (Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Instrumentation Engineering Technology): Development of an Edge AI Smart Soil Monitoring System Based on LoRa for Post-Disaster Land Suitability Assessment Using Adaptive Confidence Sensor Fusion and TinyML
  • Ade Maulana (Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering): Design and Development of an Edge AI-Based Smart Glasses Prototype with SmolVLM Integration as a Heritage Tourism Guide in Medan
  • Masherlina (Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Instrumentation Engineering Technology): Development of an IoT-Based Intelligent Instrument for Evaluating Biodiesel Energy Potential from Waste Cooking Oil Using Electrical Conductivity Parameters
  • Subhan Fahmi Nasution (Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation): Development of an IoT-Based Smart River Monitoring Instrumentation System for Early Detection of Urban River Water Pollution
  • Abdul Floranda (Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Instrumentation Engineering Technology): IoT-Based Smart Waste-to-Energy System to Support Energy Resilience through the Utilization of Heat Generated from Organic Waste Combustion as an Alternative Energy Source
  • Syukratun Nufus (Diploma Program in Metrology and Instrumentation): IoT-Based Portable Air Quality Tracker for Mapping PM2.5 Air Pollution Zones in Medan
  • Citra Indah Maharani Laoli (Diploma Program in English): Development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Based Text-to-Speech Application to Improve Pronunciation Skills in Reading Texts
  • Dena Andromeda (Diploma Program in Tax Administration): Development of a Tax Saving Planner Application for Estimating and Planning Tax Underpayments for Taxpayers with Multiple Sources of Income in Indonesia
  • Nindy Erisma (Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Banking and Finance): Driving SME Resilience and Sustainability through Twin Transition, Digital Financial Readiness, and Financial Intelligence
  • Danny Rizky Ramadhan (Applied Bachelor's Degree Program in Tourism Business Management): The Influence of Trekking and Rafting Experiences in Bukit Lawang Ecotourism on Domestic Tourists' Revisit Intention
  • Fauzan Azizi Ilyas (Diploma Program in Japanese): Development of a Job Interview (Mensetsu) Preparation Model for Tokutei Ginou Candidates: A Case Study of Job Training Institutions Sending Workers to Japan in Medan
  • Aulia Arif Nasution (Diploma Program in Tax Administration): Customs Model for the Export of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and Its Derivative Products

The Faculty of Vocational Education USU extends its congratulations to all lecturers who have secured research funding. This achievement is expected to enhance research productivity, generate meaningful innovations, and strengthen the Faculty's contribution to the advancement of science and technology.
