Pancurbatu, October 20, 2026 — The Applied Bachelor's Degree in Public Sector Accounting Student Association (HIMASIK) organizes the Gathering 2026 as a space for new students of the Applied Bachelor's Degree in Public Sector Accounting, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), to get to know each other, build communication, and strengthen relationships with students from other stambuks. With the theme "We Meet as Strangers, We Grow as One," this event brings hope that relationships starting from mutual unfamiliarity can develop into close and sustainable togetherness.

This gathering is not only an opportunity for the class of 2026 to get to know their peers, but also to build closeness with upperclassmen from the classes of 2024 and 2025. Through interactions and joint activities, students are expected to create a more friendly, open, and supportive academic environment.

Marhsya Prita, a member of the Event Division, stated that this event is important to help new students know their seniors while also building good communication with fellow students. According to her, the gathering is an opportunity for students to expand their social connections from the start of their academic journey. This closeness is expected to make students more comfortable interacting, sharing experiences, and navigating campus life together.

The atmosphere of togetherness was also created through various group games that encouraged participants to collaborate. One memorable moment for the committee was a game where participants tried to insert a stick into a bottle with the help of a camera without looking directly at the bottle and without squatting. This challenge brought about spontaneous movements that elicited laughter and added excitement to the event. According to Marhsya, participants also showed cooperative attitudes and were receptive to instructions during the activities.

In addition to the games, this activity features a Chill and Connect session as a space for sharing between senior students and the class of 2026. This session provides an opportunity for students to get to know each other better, share experiences, and build communication in a relaxed atmosphere.

For HIMASIK, the closeness formed through activities like this needs to be maintained even after the event ends. Comfortable interactions are expected to reduce the awkwardness experienced by new students when communicating with seniors or interacting with lecturers and educational staff. HIMASIK also emphasizes the important role of students from the classes of 2024 and 2025 in creating a friendly environment for the juniors. Simple gestures such as greeting each other when meeting on campus, opening discussion spaces, and taking time to gather without waiting for official events are steps that can help maintain closeness among students.

Thus, the gathering is expected to be an initial step in building closer relationships among all students in the Public Sector Accounting study program, not just an event that brings participants together in one occasion.

For the students of 2026, Gathering 2026 provided a fun, exciting, and memorable experience. Based on the reflections from the participants, this event served as an opportunity to make friends, strengthen camaraderie, and build closer relationships with senior mentors. The friendly, caring, and attentive attitude of the senior students left a positive impression on the participants. This indicates that the experience of new students in organizational activities is shaped not only by the series of events but also by the interactions and support they feel during the activities.

On the other hand, the participants hope that the next gathering can be better prepared, especially in terms of timing, coordination, and execution of activities. Such improvements are expected to create a more comfortable, interactive, and enjoyable experience for all participants. Feedback from the participants is a crucial evaluation material for the committee and HIMASIK to continue improving the quality of activities. With better preparations, the next gathering is hoped to maintain the spirit of togetherness while providing an even more meaningful experience.

HIMASIK hopes that the spirit built during Gathering 2026 will continue to thrive in everyday college life. Togetherness, good communication, teamwork, and support for one another are essential values that all Public Sector Accounting students need to uphold.

In line with the theme "We Meet as Strangers, We Grow as One," students who initially do not know each other are expected to grow together, become more cohesive, and support each other in facing academic journeys and student activities. Through this event, HIMASIK emphasizes that building a sense of family does not end when the event is over. The relationships that have been established need to continue through daily interactions, openness in communication, and a willingness to help one another.

Ultimately, Gathering 2026 is hoped to be one of the beginnings of creating a more inclusive, solid, and familial environment for Public Sector Accounting students, so that each student can undergo their college journey with support from one another.
