Diploma Program

The Diploma Program in Chemistry at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was established in 1995 and is responsible for vocational education in industrial and analytical chemistry development.

Our study program is managed by professors, doctors, and masters as outstanding educators, supported by the best facilities to create an effective and efficient academic atmosphere. The main objective of the Diploma Program in Chemistry is to train graduates skilled in synthesizing renewable chemical compounds, chemical analysis techniques, interpretation of analytical data, and understanding the environmental impacts of industrial activities and their solutions. Graduates of this program have broad career prospects, including becoming quality control and quality assurance personnel, laboratory analysts, researchers, and industrial practitioners.

History

1981

The Diploma Program in Chemistry began in 1981 with the opening of the Analytical Chemistry Study Program, the first diploma program in the exact faculty at USU.

1995

Furthermore, the Diploma Program in Industrial Chemistry was established on December 6, 1995 (Decree No. 494/DIKTI/KEP/1995).

2010

In 2010, the Diploma in Analytical Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry merged into the Diploma Program in Chemistry (Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number 163/DIKTI/KEP/2007). The legality of the Diploma Program in Chemistry as part of the USU Department of Chemistry and FMIPA was obtained when the Diploma Program in Chemistry had a permit to organize a Study Program from the Director General of Higher Education (Dikti) (Decree of the USU Chancellor No. 1762/H5.1.R/SK/PRS/2010 with the Extension of the Diploma Program in Chemistry Permit, Number 14422/D/T/K-N/2013). Based on the Decree from BAN-PT 0781/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/Dipl-III/III/2017, the last Diploma Program in Chemistry accreditation rating is B.

2022

Based on the Decree of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), Number 2007/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/Dipl-III/III/2022, it was determined that the accreditation rating of the Diploma Program Chemistry at the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan City is B, which is valid from March 22, 2022, to March 22, 2027.

To become a regionally superior study program and produce professionals in the field of laboratory analysis who can analyze chemistry and quality control in various products consumed by the public and industrial processes according to national and regional standards.
