The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FISIP USU), held an Academic Rally to commemorate its 45th Anniversary, carrying the theme “Critical, Creative, Collaborative: Young Leaders for the Nation.” The event featured an inspiring dialogue among students, alumni, and cross-sector professionals, encouraging the younger generation to prepare themselves as agents of change.
Meutia Yulanda, Officer of Mobile Marketing Communications for the Sumatra Area at Telkomsel, attended in person and delivered a motivational message: “Hopefully this event becomes a source of motivation for all of you… do not give up and always remember your goals and dreams. Study earnestly and sincerely so that you can achieve your aspirations after graduating from USU.”

Andi Renreng, Marketing Director of Xiaomi Indonesia, shared five professional principles he considers essential for students pursuing their careers: aligned communication, over-communication with purpose, sharing information with full explanation, never assuming, and acknowledging others' contributions. He emphasized these principles as a foundation for succeeding in a dynamic and highly collaborative work environment.
The event also welcomed Usman Kansong, Special Staff to the Deputy Speaker of the MPR RI, and Mhd. Fadli, Founder of Satu Atap Communication, in person. Meanwhile, joining via Zoom were alumni Doley Tobing (Fashion Stylist) and Iqbal Damanik, Campaign Manager for Climate & Energy at Greenpeace Southeast Asia. Their presence fostered a rich dialogue spanning marketing, creative media, environmental communication, and public policy.

Students of FISIP USU showed high enthusiasm—not merely as passive listeners, but by actively engaging in discussions, asking questions, and sharing perspectives on how critical, creative, and collaborative values can be applied in practice. The discussions reinforced that universities, alumni, and professional networks can work together to shape young leaders who are adaptive and innovative.
Through the Academic Rally, FISIP USU reaffirms its commitment not only as an academic institution but also as a facilitator of character-building, creativity, and collaborative networks. This event demonstrates that the younger generation is ready to take an active role in socio-political development and national transformation.
