Public Lecture “Smart Financial Management for the Golden Generation in Preparation for Entering the Workforce” in Collaboration with PT Pegadaian

Medan, May 20, 2026 – The Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Banking and Finance, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized a public lecture titled “Smart Financial Management for the Golden Generation in Preparation for Entering the Workforce” in collaboration with PT Pegadaian. This activity was held as an effort to strengthen students’ financial literacy so they can develop a strong understanding of personal financial management and better prepare themselves for the professional world.

The event took place at the Student Center Hall of USU and was attended by the Head of the Study Program, lecturers, and students of the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Banking and Finance.

The event was opened with remarks from the Head of the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Banking and Finance, Beby Kendida Hasibuan, S.E., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of financial literacy among the younger generation, especially students who are about to enter the professional world. In her remarks, she highlighted that financial management skills are essential for achieving financial independence and planning a better future.

The next remarks were delivered by a representative of PT Pegadaian, Ishri Ifdhillah M., Manager of Business Branch CPS AR Hakim. He expressed appreciation for the collaboration established with the Faculty of Vocational Education USU in supporting students’ financial literacy development. He also stated that PT Pegadaian remains committed to providing financial education to the younger generation so they can manage their finances wisely and understand various available financial products and services.

In the main session, the material was presented by Irma Pratiwi, S.Sos., Senior Marketing Business to Business at Pegadaian Area Medan 1, with a topic on financial literacy. In her presentation, she explained the importance of financial management from an early stage, including managing expenses, building savings habits, and understanding investment and financial planning for the future.

In addition, students were also given insights into making appropriate financial decisions in the modern era, including how to avoid consumptive behavior and utilize financial services wisely. The session was interactive and received high enthusiasm from participants, who actively engaged in discussions and asked various questions regarding personal financial management.

Through this public lecture, the Applied Bachelor’s Degree Program in Banking and Finance, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara hopes that students will enhance their awareness and ability to manage finances wisely, thereby becoming a golden generation ready to face the challenges of the professional world and future financial life.
