The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), conducted an official visit to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Penang from December 6 to 8, 2023, to establish strategic international collaboration. The delegation included the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Vice Dean II, Vice Dean III, the Head of the Diploma Program in Finance, the Secretary of the Diploma Program in Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis, a collaboration specialist, and students of the Faculty of Vocational Education.

The program’s key activities included Visiting Industry, Guest Lecture Sessions, International Community Services, Student International Mobility, and International Collaboration Discussions.

  • Visiting Industry: Conducted on December 6, 2023, at the INARI factory in Bayan Lepas Industrial Area, Penang, Malaysia.
  • Guest Lecture Sessions: Held on December 7, 2023, with the following topics:
    1. "Tour Guide Ecotourism" presented by Drs. Gustamto, M.Hum. at UiTM Permatang Pauh Campus.
    2. "Sunscreen and Antibacterial Activity in Chrysanthemum Ethanol Extract" presented by Sri Yuliasmi, S.Farm., M.Si., and Jane Melita Keliat, S.Si., M.Si., at UiTM Bertam Campus.
  • International Community Services: Conducted on December 7, 2023, titled "Business Model Canvas in White Chrysanthemum Anti-aging Cream in Raya Ecotourism Village." This international community service project was a collaboration between the Faculty of Vocational Education USU and UiTM Penang, funded by TALENTA USU.

  • Student International Mobility: Held from December 6 to 8, 2023, with 24 participating students consisting of:

    • 1 student from the Diploma Program in Informatics Engineering,
    • 4 students from the Diploma Program in Tax Administration,
    • 3 students from the Diploma Program in Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis,
    • 16 students from the Diploma Program in Finance.

    Activities included visits to the food industry and INARI factory, fruit carving and cooking demonstrations, and a city tour.

  • International Collaboration Discussions: These were conducted on December 7, 2023, at two locations: the UiTM Permatang Pauh and UiTM Bertam campuses.

This visit marked an important step in strengthening collaboration between the Faculty of Vocational Education USU and UiTM Penang, which aims to enhance academic, research, and community engagement programs internationally.
