Medan, July 11, 2024—Politeknik Negeri Medan successfully hosted the "Business Matching and Public Discussion 2024" event. Key stakeholders from the palm oil and agriculture industries, as well as vocational education, attended.

The event began with opening remarks from Dr. Ir. Idham Kamil, S.T., M.T., Director of Politeknik Negeri Medan, followed by Dr. Surya Dharma, S.T., M.T., Chair of the Vocational Partnership Ecosystem of North Sumatra, and Dr. Alan Frendy Koropitan, S.Pi., M.Si., Expert Team of Mitras Dudi. They emphasized the importance of building cooperation between the industry and educational institutions and the need to integrate innovation in vocational education to support the growth of the industrial sector in North Sumatra.

The keynote speakers at this event included:

  1. Ir. Alfi Syahriza, ST., M.Eng.Sc, Head of North Sumatra's Research and Development Department
  2. Ir. Abdul Haris Lubis, M.Si, Head of the North Sumatra Education Office
  3. Isfan F. Fachruddin, S.E., M.S.P, Deputy Coordinator of Human Quality Improvement, Research and Technology Innovation
  4. Timbas Prasad Ginting, Chair of GAPKI North Sumatra
  5. Dr. Donald Siahaan is a senior researcher in processing and quality at PPKS.

Other participants included the industry partners' expert team, DKP PWI North Sumatra representatives, and other key figures in vocational education and industry.

The event was also attended by the Vice Dean for Vocational Education from Universitas Sumatera Utara, who became a highlight of the event, with a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Politeknik Negeri Medan Vocational and several other industry partners. With the theme "Elaboration of Vocational Education and Industry Innovation Based on Palm Oil and Agriculture in Supporting Labor Absorption," the event aimed to discuss the challenges and opportunities in developing sustainable partnerships between vocational education and the palm oil and agriculture industries, as well as to increase labor absorption in North Sumatra.

The event was lively and successfully facilitated in-depth public discussions on the challenges and opportunities in developing the vocational sector, specifically in the palm oil and agriculture industries.
