Medan, August 17, 2026 — The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) joined the celebration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as the series of events commemorating USU’s 74th Dies Natalis, through a bazaar table and booth decoration competition organized by Universitas Sumatera Utara. The activity was held on Sunday, August 17, 2026, in the courtyard of the USU Rectorate Building following the flag-raising ceremony.
Under the theme “Vocation Island – From Vocational Education for a Sustainable Indonesia,” the Faculty of Vocational Education presented a bazaar booth that combined creativity, the spirit of independence, and environmental sustainability. The concept represented the faculty’s commitment to developing vocational education that is not only oriented toward competency and achievement but also demonstrates concern for the environment and sustainable development.
During the bazaar, the Faculty of Vocational Education offered a variety of food and beverages for the USU academic community. The menu included fried rice, pecel noodles, young coconut water, juice, jelly drinks, coffee, and various other dishes. The diverse selection added to the festive atmosphere while providing the faculty with an opportunity to showcase the creativity and potential of its academic community.
The bazaar became even more lively with a visit from USU Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., accompanied by university leaders. The Rector and his team visited each participating bazaar booth, including the Faculty of Vocational Education’s booth. The visit provided an opportunity to interact with and appreciate the creativity and participation of faculties and work units in celebrating the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence and USU’s 74th Dies Natalis.
Through its participation, the Faculty of Vocational Education USU not only contributed to the celebration of Independence Day but also strengthened the spirit of togetherness, creativity, and collaboration within the university community. The “Vocation Island – From Vocational Education for a Sustainable Indonesia” concept reflects the faculty’s commitment to continuing to deliver innovation and positive contributions to society while supporting sustainable development.
The bazaar took place in a cheerful and collaborative atmosphere. The participation of the Faculty of Vocational Education is expected to further strengthen relationships among members of the academic community while providing a space to showcase the identity and spirit of vocational education in supporting the advancement of Universitas Sumatera Utara.
The bazaar was attended by all faculties and work units within USU. Each participant presented diverse decoration concepts and food selections, creating a festive, creative, and collaborative atmosphere in celebration of Indonesia’s Independence Day.
