The Diploma Program in Statistics of the Faculty of Vocational Education Universitas Sumatera Utara successfully held the 2023 Statistics Christmas Celebration. The event was attended by approximately 400 people, including participants, guests, and alumni. The theme was "Shining Like a Star," which means inviting us to shine the light of Christ and dare to live amidst the darkness of this world. This event occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023, at GBKP Runggun Pasar VII church.
The celebration began with a pre-service, followed by welcome speeches from the Christmas committee chairman, the head of the HMJ, representatives of the lecturers, alumni, and parents. The Christmas celebration also included a Christmas service with activities such as singing, a procession dance, witnessing the creation liturgy fragment, the fall liturgy fragment, the birth liturgy fragment, a vocal group performance, and alumni liturgy. The Christmas service also featured a candle-lighting ceremony by the Christmas committee chairman, the head of the HMJ, representatives of parents, the committee, lecturers, pastors, and parents. Additionally, the service included a sermon and intercessory prayer.
After the service, the pre-service MC welcomed participants with a lucky draw. There were several exciting questions to win the lucky draw, such as calling parents to wish them a Merry Christmas and other fun questions. After that, guests were given souvenirs and snacks. At the end of the event, participants and the committee took group photos and exchanged greetings.
