Medan, February 11, 2026 – The Diploma Program in Japanese Language Study, Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), organized a guest lecture entitled Japanese Work Program in collaboration with Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd Yamaguchi, Japan. The activity took place on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and was attended by faculty leaders, lecturers, students, and official representatives of Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd.

The event was opened by the master of ceremonies, followed by the singing of the Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya and a prayer. In her remarks, the Head of the Diploma Program in Japanese Language Study, Nelvita, S.S., M.Hum., stated that this guest lecture was part of the program’s efforts to provide insights and career opportunities for students, particularly related to employment and internship opportunities in Japan. She emphasized the importance of Japanese language proficiency and cultural competence for Vocational graduates who wish to compete globally.

Further remarks were delivered by the Acting Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Dr. Solahuddin Nasution, S.E., M.SP. In his speech, he expressed appreciation for the collaboration between the Faculty of Vocational Education USU and Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd. This cooperation is expected to become a strategic opportunity for students to broaden their international experience and gain direct access to the Japanese labor industry.

The main session of the event featured representatives from Sun World Cooperative, namely:
• Mr. Kinoshita Tadashi (Chairman of Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd Yamaguchi, Japan)
• Mr. Hayashi (General Manager of Sun World Cooperative)
In the welcome speech, the Chairman of Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd Yamaguchi, Japan, Mr. Kinoshita Tadashi, explained various work programs in Japan, participant requirements, the workforce placement system, the working environment, and long-term career opportunities for Vocational students. The representatives also emphasized Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd’s commitment to opening wider access for Indonesian students, particularly those from the Faculty of Vocational Education USU.

As an important part of the series of activities, the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and an Implementation Arrangement (IA) was conducted between the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara, and Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd. This signing served as an official symbol of the established cooperation in the field of vocational education, particularly related to human resource development, job placement, and internship programs in Japan.
The event then continued with an official presentation session from Sun World Cooperative, Co., Ltd, introducing facilities, training programs, and employment pathways that students can pursue. Participants’ enthusiasm was clearly seen during the question-and-answer session, where students actively asked about the selection process, types of jobs, and career advancement opportunities in Japanese companies.

The event concluded with a group photo session and closing remarks. Through this activity, the Diploma Program in Japanese Language Study of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU hopes that more students will gain international opportunities, particularly to work or undertake internships in Japan through sustainable cooperation with overseas institutions and companies.
