Training and Coaching Workshop for Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA)
Medan, May 20, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education Universitas Sumatera Utara (Faculty of Vocational Education Universitas Sumatera Utara) organized a Training and Coaching Workshop for the Indonesian Vocational Olympiad (OLIVIA) as part of its commitment to supporting student achievement at the national level. The activity served as an intensive coaching platform for students preparing to participate in the OLIVIA XI 2026 competition through strengthening ideas, innovation, and presentation readiness.
The event took place at the USU Student Center Hall and was attended by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, the Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, lecturers, education staff, and students.
The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Junedi Ginting, who emphasized the importance of student participation in national competitions as a means of developing competence, creativity, and competitiveness. He also appreciated the enthusiasm of students and supervising lecturers who continuously strive to produce innovations and high-quality works that bring pride to the faculty at the national level.
The workshop featured two speakers, Baihaqi Siregar and Annisa Hafizha, who guided strategies for developing innovative works, strengthening proposal substance, presentation techniques, and readiness for evaluation processes in OLIVIA XI 2026.
During the coaching session, participants received feedback and direction on developing creative, applicable ideas with real societal impact. The speakers also emphasized the importance of teamwork, communication skills, and structured idea delivery to ensure strong competitiveness of the submitted works.
The workshop was attended by 81 prospective OLIVIA XI 2026 teams from various study programs within the Faculty of Vocational Education USU. The participants were divided into six competition categories: Service & Administration (14 teams), Applied Science (9 teams), Scientific Paper (25 teams), Business, Communication & Learning Innovation (12 teams), Digital & Media Technology (14 teams), and Engineering & Built Environment (7 teams).
All teams received guidance from 32 supervising lecturers who actively provided direction and evaluation of student projects. This mentoring is expected to help students refine their innovations and improve the quality of their work before competing at the national level.
Through this OLIVIA XI 2026 Training and Coaching Workshop, the Faculty of Vocational Education Universitas Sumatera Utara hopes to further motivate students to produce innovative works, enhance both academic and non-academic competencies, and achieve outstanding accomplishments in the Indonesian Vocational Olympiad at the national level.
