Medan, April 8, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), once again organized the Outstanding Student Selection (PILMAPRES) 2026 as part of its commitment to identifying high-achieving students who excel not only academically, but also in communication skills, creativity, and meaningful contributions to society. The event was held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the Aula Student Learning Center, USU, and was attended by faculty leaders, the panel of judges, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, lecturers, administrative staff, and students.
The event was officially opened by the Acting Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Dr. Solahuddin Nasution, S.E., M.SP. In his remarks, he noted that although the number of finalists slightly decreased compared to the previous year, the quality of participants remained highly commendable and full of potential. He expressed hope that through PILMAPRES, students will not only represent the faculty at the university level but also compete at the LLDIKTI level with strong support from academic advisors.
The selection process was conducted in stages and involved top student representatives from various study programs within the faculty. Participants underwent several assessment phases, including administrative selection, evaluation of outstanding achievements, and presentation of creative ideas before the panel of judges. A total of 11 students successfully passed the administrative stage and advanced to the presentation round:
As the final result, six outstanding students were selected as winners of PILMAPRES 2026, consisting of three students from the Science category and three from the Social and Humanities (SOSHUM) category.

The first-place winners from each category will represent the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, at the university-level selection. With a spirit of healthy competition, this activity also serves as a platform to enhance the quality and competitiveness of students at a broader level.
