Medan – On Monday, October 19, 2026, the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held its weekly online morning assembly (apel pagi) via the Zoom Meeting platform. The virtual coordination meeting was attended by the deanery leadership, heads of study programs, faculty members, and administrative staff to streamline internal communication and support academic and non-academic activities across the faculty.

Dr. Faisal Eriza, S.Sos., MSP., Head of the Diploma-3 (D3) Taxation Study Program, served as the ceremony leader (pembina apel). In his address, he delivered strategic directives regarding distance learning protocols and preparation milestones for the upcoming EXPO Vokasi 2026.

Focusing on the distance learning period scheduled for October 19–24, 2026, Dr. Faisal Eriza urged all faculty members to maximize integrated Google Meet features within the official Kelas USU platform. Optimal utilization of the system is essential to maintain instructional quality, preserve faculty-student interaction, and ensure seamless academic delivery during remote learning.

Additionally, the address underscored the pivotal role of faculty members in mobilizing student involvement for EXPO Vokasi 2026, scheduled for November 5–7, 2026. Academic staff were encouraged to actively motivate students to compete in various skill-based competitions hosted during the exposition.

Broad student engagement is expected to showcase creative potential while advancing academic and non-academic competencies. Furthermore, successful event execution directly supports the faculty's achievement of Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and Supporting Performance Indicators (IKP) under the institutional performance contract.

Through this online assembly, the Faculty of Vocational Education USU continues to enhance internal governance, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure full alignment toward achieving institutional benchmarks and strategic educational objectives.

This coordination initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goals SDG 4 (Quality Education) by optimizing digital learning environments and promoting competitive student development, as well as SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by strengthening institutional communication and governance performance metrics.
