The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), received a visit from the Institute for Self-Accreditation of Business Management Economics and Accounting (LAMEMBA) in the context of the Re-Accreditation Field Assessment of the Diploma Program in Accounting, which took place at the Faculty of Vocational Education Hall from Tuesday to Wednesday (17-18/09/2023).
The opening ceremony of the Field Assessment was opened by the Rector of the Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si. In his speech, the Rector emphasized the importance of accreditation to improve the quality of higher education. He invited all parties to work together to achieve better educational standards and hoped that this assessment could provide constructive input for the development of study programs.
This assessment involved two competent assessors in the field of accounting: Dr. Ely Suhayati, SE, M.Si, Ak, CA from Universitas Komputer Indonesia, and Desi Handayani, SE, M.Ak, Ak. CA from Politeknik Negeri Padang. Ms. Ely Suhayati, the assessor, said that the evaluation would be in-depth and objective, focusing on the standards set by LAMEMBA.
For two days, the assessor team conducted a series of activities, including Interviews with lecturers, students, alumni, and users to get views on the quality of teaching and learning experiences; a Document study that includes curriculum, learning plans, and facilities that support the learning process; and a field review of academic activities, including lectures and lab practices. This process aims to collect accurate and relevant data for assessment and to understand more about curriculum implementation and the achievement of graduate competencies.
The results of this assessment are expected to provide insight into the excellence and areas that need improvement in the Diploma Program in Accounting. Feedback from the assessors will be the basis for further development, so that the study program can continue adapting to changes in the industrial world and meet stakeholders' expectations.
Field Assessment by LAMEMBA for re-accrediting the Diploma Program in Accounting at the Faculty of Vocational Education at the Universitas Sumatera Utara is a strategic step to ensure that the education provided is highly quality and relevant. With the full support of the academic community, it is hoped that this study program can achieve superior accreditation and contribute significantly to higher education in Indonesia.
