This collaboration resulted in the organization of a seminar themed “Plagiarism and Academic Integrity in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”, an educational agenda designed to improve students' academic literacy amid the rapid advancement of technology.

This seminar provided an in-depth understanding of the various forms of plagiarism that often arise in academic writing. In addition, this seminar also emphasizes the importance of the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the academic writing process. Students were encouraged to recognize the limitations of AI use, the risks of AI hallucination, fictitious references, and how technology can support the thinking process, not replace it. Participants were also guided in understanding the correct citation techniques and bibliography techniques, so that students are able to avoid plagiarism from the planning stage of writing.

In his presentation, he emphasized that academic integrity can never be replaced by any technological advancement. He conveyed an empowering message: “A thesis is not just about academic ability. A thesis is about commitment, self-management, and the courage to finish what you have started. AI may help, but integrity remains our individual responsibility.”

The students enthusiasm was evident in the interactive discussions, critical questions, and desire to understand scientific writing in a more honest, independent, and responsible manner. This program is expected to be a strategic step for ProAksi USU and Voc4si USU in building a stronger, more adaptive, and dignified academic culture. Through this collaboration, the Universitas Sumatera Utara reaffirms its position as pioneers of academic integrity and ready to face the challenges of the digital era.
