The Faculty of Vocational Studies at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) held the Open House Vokasi USU 2025 for two consecutive days, February 20-21, 2025. This event aimed to introduce various study programs to high school and vocational school students and invite private schools. It provided valuable insights into vocational education and its opportunities in the industrial world.
The event was officially opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, S.E., M.E., the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies USU, who emphasized the significance of vocational education in addressing industry challenges and providing prospective students with a deeper understanding of the available study programs.
During the study program presentation session, faculty members explained their respective fields. Dr. Drs. Firman Syarif, M.Si., C.A., presented the Applied Bachelor's Program in Public Sector Accounting, discussing the role of accounting in government and public institutions. Nelvita, S.S., M.Hum. introduced the Diploma in Japanese Language, focusing on language proficiency and cultural knowledge tailored for industrial and educational needs. Dr. Zikri Noer, S.Si., M.Si. highlighted the Applied Bachelor's Program in Instrumentation Engineering Technology, showcasing its relevance across various industrial sectors. Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si. explained the importance of precise measurement in industry and research through the Diploma in Metrology and Instrumentation.
Tulus Joseph Herianto S.Si., M.Si., secretary of the Applied Bachelor's Program in Statistics, elaborated on how data analysis benefits sectors such as business and government. Drs. Albert Pasaribu, M.Sc. discussed the application of chemistry in manufacturing and research through the Applied Bachelor's Program in Applied Chemistry. Faisal Eriza, S.Sos., M.S.P. explored the significance of tax administration in business and finance during his presentation on the Diploma in Tax Administration. Sri Yuliasmi S.Farm., M.Si., Apt, secretary of the Diploma in Pharmacy and Food Analysis, described pharmaceutical analysis and food quality testing in the health and food industries.
Fivi Rahmatus Sofiyah, S.E., M.Si., introduced the Applied Bachelor's Program in Digital Office Administration, emphasizing technology integration in office management. Dra. Normalina Napitupulu, M.Sc., presented the Diploma in Informatics Engineering, covering the fundamentals of information technology and its industrial applications.Drs. Parlindungan, M.Hum. explained that the Diploma in English Language equips students with professional English skills for various career fields. Beby Kendida Hasibuan, S.E., M.Si. discussed the financial and banking system in the digital era through the Applied Bachelor's Program in Banking and Finance. Koko Sujatmoko, S.E., M.Si. closed the presentation sessions with the Applied Bachelor's Program in Tourism Business Management, outlining business strategies in the evolving tourism industry.
In addition to the study program presentations, Open House Vokasi USU 2025 featured various engaging activities, including student innovation exhibitions showcasing creative projects, a campus tour (Vokasi Tour) for visitors to explore the learning facilities, educational games to provide a fun learning experience, a bazaar with a variety of local products, and door prizes to reward participants for their enthusiasm. Through this event, prospective students better understood the study programs offered and had the opportunity to witness firsthand the innovations developed by vocational students at USU.
Open House Vokasi USU 2025 served as an interactive platform for students to explore the world of vocational education and make informed decisions about their future. The event concluded successfully with an official closing by the MC.
