Medan, August 13, 2026 – Entering the second day of the 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), the enthusiasm of the new students continued to grow. Held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the activities featured a variety of sessions introducing the academic environment, student services, organizations, as well as opportunities for students to develop their achievements and competencies.
The day began with a morning assembly, which served as an opportunity to foster discipline, togetherness, and preparedness among the new students as they participated in the entire PKKMB program.
The activities continued with Session V — Impactful Campus and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), delivered by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si. The session provided an understanding of the role students can play in creating a positive impact on society, as well as the contribution of higher education institutions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The program continued with an introduction to the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS), delivered by Narosu Siregar, S.T., M.Sc. New students were introduced to the importance of creating a safe, comfortable, inclusive campus environment free from all forms of violence and sexual harassment.
Students were also introduced to various facilities and support services for academic activities through the Library Session, delivered by Kiki Novita Haloho, S.Sos. The session introduced the library as one of the primary resources supporting learning, research, and the development of students’ knowledge.
The students’ enthusiasm grew further during the Student Achievement and Creativity Center (Puspresma) and Student Creativity Program (PKM) sessions, delivered by Juli Novita Sari, S.Si., M.Sc., and Sally Irvina Ritonga, S.Si., M.Si. Through these sessions, new students were encouraged to actively develop their potential, creativity, and innovation, as well as to participate in various achievement competitions and student activities. The sessions became even more interactive when several high-achieving Faculty of Vocational Education USU students were invited to the stage to share their experiences with the new students. They shared their experiences participating in various competitions and achievement programs, from entering competitions and gaining new experiences to building networks and discovering the various benefits of being an accomplished student.
The new students then gained insights into preparedness for potential disasters through a session on the USU Centre of Disaster, Mitigation and Adaptation, delivered by Dr. Ir. Bejo Slamet, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM. The session emphasized the importance of knowledge, awareness, mitigation, and adaptive capacity in dealing with disaster risks.
The PKKMB also became more meaningful with the participation of the USU Board of Professors, which provided additional insights and motivation to the new students. The session was delivered by Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, S.E., M.E., who also serves as Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU. The presence of faculty leaders and academics played an important role in providing students with an overview of their academic journey throughout their time in higher education.
Between the sessions, the event became even more lively with various entertainment activities and student performances. These performances provided a refreshing break while also serving as a platform for students to express their creativity and build positive interactions with their peers.
The second day continued with introductions to each study program, followed by group photo sessions for each program. New students had the opportunity to become more familiar with the environment and identity of their respective study programs. The event became even more vibrant with the screening of study program videos and the presentation of student chants, which strengthened enthusiasm, solidarity, and pride in being part of the Faculty of Vocational Education USU.
Through the second day of PKKMB, new students gained not only information about academic life and campus facilities but also valuable insights into character development, achievement, creativity, safety, and the role of students in creating an impactful campus.
With a continued spirit of togetherness and enthusiasm, the 2026 PKKMB at the Faculty of Vocational Education USU serves as an important first step for new students to become familiar with their environment, adapt to campus life, and grow into competent, creative, accomplished vocational graduates capable of making a positive impact on society.
