The Faculty of Vocational Studies of USU successfully held the Selection of Outstanding Students (PILMAPRES) at the Faculty level at the USU Vocational Faculty Hall Building. PILMAPRES, or Outstanding Student Selection, is a student competition organized by the USU Faculty of Vocational Studies. The activity is intended to find outstanding students in the Faculty of Vocational Studies. The event, which was held on Friday, March 08, 2024, was a place for outstanding students of the Faculty of Vocational Studies to show each other their best potential. The PILMAPRES event was attended directly by Deputy Dean I, Deputy Dean II, and Deputy Dean III as judges and, of course, enlivened by all supporters from each Study Program in Vocational Studies. In this PILMAPRES activity, there were 11 students from several Study Programs who registered themselves, and each finalist brought Scientific Writing that they designed themselves. The finalists presented the results of their scientific papers which were outlined in the form of PowerPoint. Each finalist designed their scientific paper creatively and innovatively. The scientific papers were attractively packaged to be presented to the jury and the USU VOCATION PILMAPRES 2024 audience. Each jury gave responses and several questions directly after the students presented their respective scientific papers. Each finalist was given the opportunity to answer the questions with their best answers.

The first winner was Salsabila Hermasari Siregar from the D-III Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis Study Program, the second winner was Jasmine Anastasya Widy from the D-III English Study Program, and the third winner was Steven Walker Simangunsong from D-III Tax Administration Study Program. Furthermore, MAWAPRES The Best Innovation Nomination Champion was won by Jhon Martin Putra Siregar from the D-III Finance Study Program, and MAWAPRES The Best Paper was won by Maytri Handayani Br Ginting from the D-III Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis Study Program, finally MAWAPRES The Best Presenter was won by Michelle Bianca Paji from the D-III Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis Study Program.

Later, the winners of this PILMAPRES will continue the PILMAPRES competition at the university level. Outstanding students not only get recognition for academic achievements, but also get the opportunity to inspire and contribute to positive change in society through the ideas and innovations they produce. Vice Dean I gave his response regarding PILMAPRES: “As a judge and also as the one in charge of the student affairs section regarding academic and student affairs issues, I feel proud of what our students in the vocational faculty display consisting of various study programs that participate. Well, of course, all of this is the result of the hard work of all lecturers who participate in guiding our students so that they can excel and they are able to display their innovative work. It is our hope that they will be able to carry the vocational flag to the University level, as well as to the regional/regional level, and even our prayer to the National level.
