Medan, October 28–29, 2025 — To support the implementation of the latest taxation system, the Medan Polonia Primary Tax Office (KPP Pratama Medan Polonia), in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) through the USU Tax Center and the Diploma Program in Taxation, Faculty of Vocational Education, organized a Tax Corner event. The two-day activity took place on Tuesday–Wednesday, October 28–29, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall, 2nd Floor, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) USU, Jalan Prof. Dr. A. Sofian No. 1, Padang Bulan, Medan.

This event was held in response to the transition of the Annual Tax Return (SPT) reporting mechanism from the DJP Online platform to the new CoreTax system for the 2025 Fiscal Year, which will begin reporting in March 2026. Therefore, the Tax Corner served as an important opportunity for all individual taxpayers within Universitas Sumatera Utara to activate their CoreTax accounts and receive direct assistance in preparing their Annual Tax Returns.

The event began with an opening speech by Sondar Simanullang, Head of Supervision Section IV, Medan Polonia Primary Tax Office. In his remarks, he expressed appreciation for USU’s support in facilitating the activity and emphasized that the implementation of the CoreTax system represents a major step forward by the Directorate General of Taxes in improving efficiency and accuracy in tax reporting.
“We hope that through this activity, lecturers, educational staff, and students can understand the importance of adapting to the CoreTax system, as it reflects a digital transformation toward more modern and transparent tax services.”
said Sondar Simanullang.

The next address was delivered by Faisal Eriza, S.Sos., M.S.P., Head of the Diploma Program in Tax Administration, Faculty of Vocational Education, USU. He expressed gratitude to KPP Pratama Medan Polonia for the collaboration and highlighted the educational value of the program.
“Through the Tax Corner, we hope the USU academic community will become more aware of the importance of tax compliance and gain a better understanding of the new reporting mechanisms. This activity also provides a practical learning platform for taxation students to learn directly from professionals,” said Faisal Eriza, S.Sos., M.S.P.
During the event, participants received hands-on assistance from KPP Pratama Medan Polonia officers in activating their accounts, updating taxpayer data, and learning the new Annual Tax Return reporting procedures. The assistance process was also supported by taxation students from the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, who served as Tax Volunteers, ensuring that the sessions ran smoothly and interactively.

The Tax Corner operated from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and was open to all lecturers, educational staff, and students of Universitas Sumatera Utara seeking to maintain proper tax compliance.
Looking ahead, the collaboration between KPP Pratama Medan Polonia and the Faculty of Vocational Education, USU, is expected to continue through sustainable tax education and assistance programs. Such initiatives aim to enhance tax awareness and compliance within the university environment while cultivating a young generation that is tax literate and ready to support Indonesia’s ongoing digital transformation in taxation.
