Medan, December 21, 2024 – The Vocational Faculty of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has again achieved recognition at the USU Award 2024, held at the USU Auditorium on Friday night (21/12). In this event, the Best Community Service Implementation II award was won by Samerdanta Sinulingga, S.ST.Par., M.Par., a lecturer from the USU Vocational Faculty, for his dedication to developing innovations that have a tangible impact on rural communities and the academic world.
In addition, two outstanding study programs at the USU Vocational Faculty, namely the D3 Finance and D3 Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis programs, were also recognized as the best study programs due to their quality of education. At the same event, five students from the USU Vocational Faculty also received awards in the Student Achievement Award category, namely Syaiful Anwar Nasution, Jasmine Anastasya Widy, Putri Syon Nauli Butar-Butar, Eka Aditya Syahputra, and Rivaldo Simamora. They were recognized for their outstanding achievements in various national and provincial competitions in academic and non-academic fields.
The USU Award 2024 event began with a performance of the Tor-Tor Dance, a traditional dance from North Sumatra that captivated the audience. The opening speech was delivered by the USU Rector, Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., who expressed his high appreciation to the academic community for their contributions to the university’s progress.
On this awards night, various recognition categories were presented, such as Best Archival Unit, Accreditation & Quality Assurance, Academic Award, and categories for Innovation and Key Performance Indicators (KPI). Awards were also given to outstanding academics and innovators, including Samerdanta Sinulingga, who is known for his innovations in supporting village development through tourism-based empowerment programs and community training.
The USU Vocational Faculty shone brightly at this awards night through individual achievements and recognition for the quality of its two study programs. “We are very proud of this achievement. The award received by our lecturer, Mr. Samerdanta Sinulingga, is concrete proof that the Vocational Faculty excels in education and social contribution,” said USU Rector, Prof. Muryanto Amin.
The USU Award 2024 event concluded with a stunning performance by the band Armada, who played their hit songs. This performance added to the lively atmosphere and was a perfect closing for a night full of appreciation. With the various awards received by lecturers, students, and study programs, the USU Award 2024 once again affirms Universitas Sumatera Utara’s commitment to continuous innovation, producing quality graduates, and making a real impact on society.
