Medan, July 29, 2026 – The Directorate of Learning Digitalization (DitDP) at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) conducted a Learning Management System (LMS) Workshop at the Faculty of Vocational Education as part of its commitment to supporting the digital transformation of learning across the university. Held in Room 203 of the Faculty of Vocational Education, the workshop was attended by the Vice Dean, the Director of the Directorate of Learning Digitalization, and homebase lecturers from the Faculty of Vocational Education.

The workshop was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Education, Student Affairs, and Alumni of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Dr. Solahuddin Nasution, S.E., M.SP. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of digital technology proficiency in enhancing the quality of higher education. He noted that the effective use of the Learning Management System (LMS) would enable lecturers to design, manage, and evaluate learning activities more efficiently, interactively, and in line with the demands of education in the digital era.

The opening session was followed by remarks from the Director of the Directorate of Learning Digitalization, Dr. Ir. Tigor Hamonangan Nasution, S.T., M.T., IPM. He highlighted that the USU LMS serves as a key instrument in supporting the university's integrated digital learning ecosystem. Through the workshop, DitDP aims to encourage lecturers to maximize the platform's features, enabling more structured, well-documented learning processes while enhancing students' learning experiences.

Following the opening ceremony, participants took part in a hands-on training session on Kelas USU, facilitated by Reza Taqyuddin, M.Kom. from the Directorate of Learning Digitalization. The session provided practical guidance on managing digital classrooms, including course creation, uploading learning materials, designing assignments and quizzes, and utilizing various instructional features available on the USU LMS platform.

Through this workshop, lecturers at the Faculty of Vocational Education are expected to be better equipped to implement digital learning effectively. The initiative reflects the shared commitment of the Faculty of Vocational Education and the Directorate of Learning Digitalization to improving educational quality through the effective use of information technology while fostering an innovative, adaptive, and student-centered learning culture.
