Medan, July 24, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), held a Coordination Meeting on Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations as part of its commitment to strengthening the quality of education and enhancing student development. The meeting, held in Room 203 of the Faculty of Vocational Education, also focused on preparations for the Odd Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

The meeting was attended by the faculty leadership, heads of study programs, homebase lecturers, the Head of Administration, subdivision heads, and administrative staff. The participation of these key stakeholders was essential in aligning institutional efforts and ensuring the readiness of academic activities, student affairs, and support services for the upcoming semester.

The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni Relations, Dr. Solahuddin Nasution, S.E., M.SP. During his remarks, he presented key updates on academic coordination, student affairs, and alumni development, while highlighting the preparations required to ensure the smooth implementation of the 2026/2027 Odd Semester.

The session continued with a presentation by the Dean's Expert Staff, Reza Taqyuddin, M.Kom., who discussed several aspects supporting the learning process, including lecturer reporting, Kelas USU, Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). These topics underscored the faculty's commitment to strengthening its learning ecosystem and leveraging educational technology to enhance teaching and learning.

The meeting also featured a presentation by the Head of the Faculty Laboratory, Jane Melita Keliat, S.Si., M.Si., on the implementation of laboratory practicums and the Teaching Factory (TEFA) program. These components are integral to vocational education, as practice-based learning and real-world work experience play a crucial role in preparing students for professional careers and industry demands.

Through this coordination meeting, the Faculty of Vocational Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration among faculty leaders, study programs, lecturers, administrative staff, and laboratory managers in preparation for the 2026/2027 Odd Semester. The coordinated efforts are expected to ensure the effective implementation of academic activities, student affairs programs, academic services, and competency development initiatives, thereby supporting continuous improvement in the quality of vocational education.
