Medan, May 20, 2025 – The Faculty of Vocational Education at Universitas Sumatera Utara had the honor of serving as the official ceremony team in commemoration of the 117th National Awakening Day (Harkitnas), held at the courtyard of the USU Rectorate Bureau. The ceremony was attended by university leaders, lecturers, education staff, and students from various faculties within USU.
USU Vice Rector IV, Prof. Dr. Drs. Opim Salim Sitompul, M.Sc., served as the ceremony inspector. In his address, he delivered a powerful message on the significance of the national awakening spirit in today’s context. He emphasized that National Awakening Day should be a reflective moment for all elements of the nation, especially the younger generation, to rise above various challenges, whether in education, morality, or their contribution to the country.
Today, we are not only commemorating a historic event but also renewing our commitment to continue contributing to the advancement of our country. True awakening is when we move together, support each other, and dare to change for the better,” stated Prof. Opim Salim Sitompul.
The ceremony officials were lecturers from various USU Faculty of Vocational Education study programs. The event proceeded in an orderly and solemn manner, thanks to the organizing team's solid cooperation and thorough preparation. The list of ceremony officials was as follows:
• Master of Ceremonies: Juli Novita Sari, S.Si., M.Sc.
• Reader of Pancasila Text: Faisal Eriza, S.Sos., MSP.
• Reader of the 1945 Constitution Preamble: Dr. Ir. Zikri Noer, S.Si., M.Si.
• Prayer Reader: Agung Pratama, S.Si., M.Si.
• Conductor: Afrida Fitriyani Sipahutar, S.Pd.I., M.A.
The primary aim of this ceremony was to instill the values of nationalism among the academic community, strengthen the spirit of togetherness, and foster a collective awareness of the crucial role higher education plays in shaping a future generation that is strong, productive, and nationally minded.
Similar activities are expected to be held regularly in the future, with active participation from all units and elements within Universitas Sumatera Utara. The Faculty of Vocational Education at USU remains committed to continuing its involvement in national events as a concrete form of dedication to the institution and contribution to national development.
