Medan, July 23, 2026 – The Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), continues to strengthen synergy and coordination in the areas of research, community service, partnerships, and internationalization. This commitment was demonstrated through the Coordination Meeting on Research, Community Service, Partnerships, and Internationalization, held in Room 203 of the Faculty of Vocational Education.
The meeting was attended by the faculty leadership, heads of study programs, homebase lecturers, the Head of Administration, subdivision heads, and website administrators. The participation of these stakeholders played an essential role in fostering cross-unit coordination and ensuring that programs related to research, community service, partnerships, and internationalization are implemented strategically and documented effectively.
The meeting was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Prof. Dr. Isfenti Sadalia, S.E., M.E. In her opening remarks, the Dean emphasized the importance of collaboration among the faculty leadership, study programs, lecturers, and administrative staff in achieving institutional performance targets and strengthening the faculty's contribution to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
The session continued with a presentation by the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Partnerships, and Internationalization, Junedi Ginting, S.Si., M.Si. During his presentation, he outlined several key priorities that require collective attention to strengthen the planning and performance evaluation of research and community service activities.
One of the key issues highlighted was the need to compile each lecturer's Research Master Plan (Rencana Induk Penelitian/RIP) as part of mapping the faculty's research direction. In addition, each study program was encouraged to develop and strengthen its research roadmap to ensure that research activities are strategically planned and aligned with the specific needs and academic disciplines of each program.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of completing academic discipline (rumpun ilmu) data for lecturers who have not yet updated their profiles. Comprehensive academic discipline data is essential for mapping lecturers' expertise and competencies, thereby supporting the development of research, community service, partnerships, and collaboration opportunities that align with their respective fields of expertise.
Through this coordination meeting, the Faculty of Vocational Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance and collaboration in research, community service, partnerships, and internationalization. Sustained coordination among the faculty leadership, study programs, lecturers, and administrative staff is expected to support the achievement of institutional performance targets while expanding the Faculty of Vocational Education's contributions at both the national and international levels.
