Medan, August 14, 2026 — Another outstanding achievement was earned by a student of the Faculty of Vocational Education, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU). Regina Alea Sihombing, a student of the Diploma Program in Tax Administration, won Second Place in the Anchor Hunt talent competition organized by Garuda TV in collaboration with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) as part of the 2026 Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) celebrations.
The Anchor Hunt competition was held on the final day of PKKMB, Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Smart Classroom of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) USU, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The competition provided students with an opportunity to showcase their talents, communication skills, confidence, and ability to deliver information before a public audience.
In the competition, Regina Alea Sihombing delivered an outstanding performance and secured Second Place. This achievement is a notable accomplishment for the Faculty of Vocational Education and demonstrates that vocational students possess the potential and skills to compete in communication and broadcasting.
The winners of the Anchor Hunt competition were:

🥈 Second Place: Regina Alea Sihombing – Diploma Program in Tax Administration, Faculty of Vocational Education USU
🥉 Third Place: Cindy Roulina Siallagan – Undergraduate Program in Indonesian Literature, Faculty of Cultural Sciences USU
Participating in Anchor Hunt provided students with valuable experience in developing various skills, particularly public speaking, communication, confidence, creativity, and the ability to perform in front of cameras and audiences. The competition also served as a platform for students from different faculties to interact and showcase their respective talents in an energetic and creative PKKMB atmosphere.
For the Faculty of Vocational Education USU, Regina’s achievement demonstrates that vocational education focuses not only on developing competencies within students’ respective fields of study but also on encouraging them to explore their potential through various non-academic activities.
